Trader Joe's will be coming to Bklyn.

Excellent (though stunningly vague). Am I crazy to believe that this will be somewhere near downtown? It won't be by AY, since nothing will be finished over there "very soon". Let's face it, it isn't likely to be way far out in Brooklyn, like Canarsie. Park Slope and surrounding doesn't have the space without having to tear down and rebuild, and that doesn't seem to fit Marty's sketchy timeline.

To my mind that means either Williamsburg or in the downtown corridor (probably in one of the new condo developments). Anyone agree/disagree?

Trader Joe's was one of the two possible companies that were purportedly in discussions to take the space in BellTel. Since Whole Foods cancelled (after the space had been built to their specifications), the remaining one is Trader Joe's. While that doesn't mean it's coming into our building, it was certainly a possibility a few months ago. Has anyone heard of any other vendors in negotiations for that space?

Someone said that Fresh Direct was looking to put a spot in BellTel (I assume that would be akin to their location in LIC). I wouldn't call it firsthand info - as I recall it, someone posted it here indicating that they'd heard it from the security guy in the BellTel lobby who has a friend working for Fresh Direct.

In other words, pretty attenuated, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Patience is what we need in regards to a foodmarket. There is for now Garden of Eden on Montegue or Pathmark by the Atlantic Center and a few others in the area. Soon smart retailers will realise how important Willoughby St is ( the thruway for all new condos and hotels) and Belltel is a beautiful building with a lot of space. Fulton St Mall will probably get a face lift similar to 14th St in the city, but Willoughby that's another story! three years tops!

I think 14th street in the is a great comparison. Once the construction is done in Albee Sq, you'll also see some big changes to Willoughby. They have to have a draw to bring all the people from Ft. Greene across Flatbush to do some shopping on Willoughby.
